Reyes Commits to Stony Brook Football

April 23, 2008

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook University's football team has received another commitment for the 2008 freshman class from the state of California. Head coach Chuck Priore announced today that Dominick Reyes (Hesperia, Calif.) has committed to the program for the 2008 season.

"Dominick is someone that we recruited early in the process," said Priore. "He was the number one safety on our board and some things evolved over the past couple of months to where he was still available. We are very fortunate to land him. He possesses great size and athleticism, is a fierce competitor and I think he will be very successful here at Stony Brook."

A 6-4, 195-lb. safety, Reyes played his high school ball at Hesperia High School. He was named the 2007 Daily Press Football Defensive Player of the Year after a senior season that saw him help the Scorpions to a 9-2 record and the school's first-ever CIF football playoff victory. Playing safety on defense and receiver on offense, Reyes totaled 58 tackles, picked off 10 passes, forced three fumbles and came up with four fumble recoveries. On the offensive side of the ball he hauled in 37 balls for 511 yards and six scores. An All-Southern California Defensive Team selection he was also chosen to participate in the Southern California Bowl.
